Frigg as wife of Thor?

Frigg by Carl Emil Doepler.

Gunnar Olof Hyltén-Cavallius in his treatise writes of a differing viewpoint on Frigg’s position in the religions as being Thor’s wife:

Han åtföljes på dessa färder af sin hustru, den hos Wärendsfolket ännu ihogkomma Frigg eller Frigge.

He is accompanied on these journeys by his wife, the one still remembered by the folk of Wärend as Frigg, or Frigge.

Regarding the goddess Frigg or Frigge, we have already stated that in the previous section, that according to Wärend folk belief she was Thor or the god Thor’s wife, who followed him on his wandering, which is why Thorshelgen still gets its name from consecrating the god Thor and Frigge.

This shows some difference in local folklore, which likely varied between certain regions. Though I personally believe that it was originally Sif who travelled with him and fit this model.

Something to consider here is the theory of Thor as being named Fjörgynn and as Frigg’s father in Lokasenna, with Frigg being called Fjörgyns mær. Thor tends to share theonyms from his mother, as well as from his foster family (Fjörgyn, Hlóðyn; Hlóra, Hlórekr/Hlórikr-Vingnir, who is otherwise spelled as Loricus).

I stress theory here, because this cannot be confirmed and conflicts with the primary literature.

Wodan and Frea, Carl Emil Doepler.

Thor is also stated to ride a horse and not drive a cart pulled by his goats in this region, which might indicate influence or admixture of elements from the Odin cult, which is likely where this viewpoint and that of Frigg derives.
